Healing with Calendula
This was the first cream I made after becoming an aromatherapist.  I made it for my step mother who had eczema on her feet so bad that she could no longer wear shoes.  Her skin was weeping and would crack and bleed.  Everything she tried either didn't work or made it worse.

Within days she was seeing great results.  She started giving it to friends and family, nurses and teachers and mains de mariposa was born.  She even uses it on her English Bulldog in her "wrinkles" to prevent discolouration and irritation of her extremely sensitive skin.

Watching her suffer really made me aware that there was a real need for effective skin care options.  I also saw her spend a small fortune on products that didn't work for her.  She spent so much money that I vowed I would make sure people didn't lose money trying this product.  It was a natural decision for my company as I believe abundance is best created through mutually fulfilling relationships.

Why use mdm's Healing with Calendula?
Calendula Oil
I infuse my own calendula oil.  A slow process.  I start with food grade sunflower oil and food grade, organic calendula petals.  I warm them together to extract the benefits of the calendula flowers and preserve the integrity of the sunflower oil.

Food Grade Sunflower Oil
Sunflower oil is high in antioxidant vitamins A, C and E so can help prevent the free radical skin damage caused by sunlight and pollution.  It is my "go to" body oil so it was a natural choice for this formulation.  I love the perfect combination of moisture and nourishment it provides my skin.

It is non-comedogenic, meaning it won't clog pores and it does have some antibacterial properties as well.  Because it contains organic acids like oleic, palmitic, linoleic and stearic acids it may help protect the skin from infection.

Food Grade Cold Pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil
The next main ingredient is food grade EVO. It hardly needs any introduction as it's been used for centuries for it's skin healing properties. Many websites make many claims about it's wondrous healing abilities. It is certainly a great choice for an anti-oxidant oil and t does contain chlorophyll which is said to help speed healing of wounds. I refuse to make outlandish claims but let history prove time and again a good quality olive oil only benefits the skin.

Shea butter, Lanolin, Glycerin
In my formulation I've then added unrefined shea butter, lanolin and vegetable glycerin each for a specific reason of course.
It took almost 7 years to get the proportions right to make a cream that is effective but not greasy.  That protects but absorbs well.
Shea butter -  Shea butter is a fantastic moisturizer and skin healer in the right quantities.  Too much and it just sits on the skin, too little and it's not effective.  This formula with absorb and moisturize perfectly.
Lanolin - made from sheep's wool - is thick and sticky and is added in just right right amount in the formula to lend it's amazing healing and moisturizing properties without feeling sticky.  It gets in those cracks and stubbornly stays there, moisturizing and protecting the skin where it's needed most.
Glycerin - Vegetable glycerin has long been used as a choice moisturizer as well.  It can also be sticky if not well formulated.  Scientists still have not discovered whether it keeps moisture in or draws it from the air.  But they are
agreed it is beneficial to dry, chapped skin.

Again, you will find that all three of these wonderful ingredients are perfectly balanced in the formulation to get into the cracks and dry skin and stay there without being sticky or gummy.
Castor Oil
A thick yellow oil coming from the bean of the castor plant.  This oil has been used for years to help "get things out".  It's included in this formulation because many skin conditions are a result of the skin trying to rid itself of something.  Our skin is our largest organ and it is constantly absorbing, secreting and filtering.  Castor oil helps draw out impurities and toxins.  It is especially helpful for weeping eczema.

Bees wax
A truly natural emulsifier.  It also helps add to the protective and moisturizing nature of this cream.
